Any steel pipe-work penetrating either a slab or wall are tightly packed with an intumescent packed foam strip and sealed over using a fire rated sealant providing the gap around the pipe is no more than 30mm. Bigger than 30mm a graphite charged intumescent strip will be used also being sealed over with a graphite intumescent sealant. We can achieve up to a 4hr rating. The higher the rating the more material used.
Any steel pipe-work penetrating drywall is to have a neatly cored hole giving a gap of 10mm around the entire pipe, allowing a thick bead of fire rated sealant which would be sufficient to form a seal. Any bigger and the hole would be required to be packed with either an intumescent packed foam strip or a larger graphite charged intumescent strip and the wall lining would have to have a minimum thickness of 20mm.
